In September of 2009 representatives of the Partners Coalition entered discussions with the Board of Directors of the Chicago Coalition for End of Life Care (CECC) regarding the possibility of a merger with CECC. CECC agreed at their November 2009 Board meeting to expand their organization to include the new “Northwest Branch” (formerly the Partners Coalition).

The Partners Coalition had been active in McHenry County since the year 2000.  The organization was officially incorporated in January, 2006 and granted a favorable 501(c)(3) status by the IRS in December 2007.

The mission of the Partners Coalition was to raise public awareness and community education on advance end-of-life planning.

The Partners Coalition was formerly dissolved on December 2009.  Paula Jackson, former president of the Partners Coalition was appointed to the CECC Board of Directors to represent the new Northwest Branch.

The first official meeting of the Northwest Branch occurred in Barrington, IL. on March 4, 2010 at the Barrington Public Library.
